Hi there! I am Erik, one of the fresh crew members of 2ManyDigits, and I’m very proud to be here. I have been working in IT for over 25 years now and hope to make good use of that, in the role of Salesforce Consultant, for 2MD and their customers. 3 years ago, I made a lateral shift in the world of IT, when moved away from the IT infrastructure and into the realm of Salesforce. And what an excellent choice that has been!
I live in Utrecht with my wife and 2 brilliant daughters of 7 and 9. We live in a beautiful old house, just of the Amsterdamsestraatweg. That long shopping street is the place where my wife has her own store: Winkel vol winkeltjes 🙂
Why did you join 2ManyDigits?
Now that the rules around Corona are more relaxed, I wanted to work closer to the office and be amongst people more. A former colleague now working at 2MD, invited me for lunch at their office and we started talking. 2MD is a young and ambitious company, with their aim on delivering good solutions, in a fun and relaxing environment aroused my interest. That combined with a 15 minute commute. Walking!
What does a typical day look like?
Get up around 7, dress and go down to the girls, wake and hug them. We have breakfast with the whole family and at 8, we bring the kids to school and go to work after that. I try to walk and bike as much as possible. It’s good fun, healthy and refreshing! At work, I try to find a good balance between hard work and relaxation. Take time to have lunch and try to have a walk somewhere in the middle. Keeps me sharp, too.
At the end of the afternoon, I go and pick-up the girls from daycare and start cooking a lovely meal. My wife closes her shop around 6 and joins us soon after. In the evening, I like to do some relaxing activity. It can be a having a glass of wine in town, planning a holiday, do some trailheads or watching Netflix. And play with Pien, our cat!
What’s your fuel?
Making people happy! To be able to touch them, through working together with them and to serve them with good solutions.
How do you relax?
Eating brilliant food with wines that match and friends that talk a lot 🙂
Where did you go on your last holiday?
I went to visit my sister in the Creuse, a beautiful area in the middle of France, near Limoges. It was a short trip, but very enjoyable and great fun. I went down there together with an old friend, making the long drive a feast!
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Apeldoorn and moved to Bathmen when I was two. Bathmen is a very relaxed, small village in the east of The Netherlands. It was great fun as a child, with little traffic and lots of woods to play in.
Which book did you recently read that you can recommend?
When I was on Schiermonnikoog for a week in April, I read “Het fantastische verhaal van de kip die de wereld rond zeilde”. A very enjoyable story about a boy from Bretagne, who sails around the world in 5 years, together with chicken Monique. I can very much recommend to read this adventures and funny book!
Any final thoughts?
I look forward to this new chapter in my career and in my life. I hope to deliver great work in a better work-life balance, at a cool new office.
