Hi, my name is Roeland Baan an Amsterdam local (born and raised) and I am a Dev Ops Engineer at 2ManyDigits.
It may sound a bit strange but my interest for IT was triggered by a game of chess. When Google’s Alpha zero had beaten the best chess engines out there I was very impressed. I realized that software is a powerful tool, with these insights the impossible becomes possible. I want that knowledge! How do I build solutions with software, how do I use text and punctuation marks to write a functioning application?! When I started my journey in IT I got introduced to the Salesforce platform, and haven’t looked back since.
Developing on the Salesforce platform is my new ambition and together with 2ManyDigits this has become reality. Let’s build some awesome features!
Why did you join 2ManyDigits?
When I was learning for Salesforce Developer I had some interesting workshops from 2ManyDigits. The way they approach problems philosophically: developing with the client’s customers satisfaction in mind and always trying to find the best innovative solutions appealed to me. Not blindly doing what was asked but trying to discern the reason behind the question, that’s what makes working at 2ManyDigits so interesting, challenging and rewarding. Interesting because you are encouraged to come up with the best solution for the customer, that same reason also makes it challenging. And rewarding because delivering a final product you stand behind, gives a lot of satisfaction.
How do you relax?
In the weekend I like to hang out with friends, grab a beer and discuss the finer things in life. Working out has been a hobby of mine since my teens that also gives me a kick. Plus I enjoy chess.
